Version 2.0 is about 2 times brighter than 1.0. I have two of the first and one of these. Now I will buy 2.0. I will try to shoot a short video together in both side by side. I will say the 1.0 is pretty nimble and lasts longer. When the battery dies on 2.0, where do I fish and hunt before being rescued? Well, I probably won't be writing any more reviews anyway. I will also add some (possibly) useful information. I typically use silicone grease for any electrical connections that are on (or in) equipment that will be exposed to weather or water (like these beacons). I'll put a tiny smear on every connection. Of course, in the case of Rev 2.0, you should be careful not to hit the light because it's evil! Simply wipe a small amount onto the o-rings and then onto the internal connections. I also lubricate the battery ends. Just helps turn it on with ease (without making it so slippery that if you drop it it turns on. Hope this all helps!
