An affordable PFD flash option.

Very bright and looks very well made. I've tried it in the water a few times and while it's a small safety flare for me I have a feeling it will work well when needed. After a situation where I spent 11 hours in the dark before being found, I now make sure my assault whistle, both flashes and signal mirror are ALWAYS in my life jacket.

Unit would not turn on when submerged in water

I bought 2 of these units. Tried both three times each to see it activate itself. It took many attempts to activate these torches. It didn't give me the rest I wanted as he was in the middle of getting a life jacket for kids. The item has been returned. It is well suited for a life jacket with a self-inflating tube. But how would he fit into a life jacket without them?

Pros
  • One year trial

It's an amazing light and the fact that it comes with a nozzle.

This is an amazing light and the fact that it has a hose mount to inflate. I've had several of their flashlights even after they switched from the yellow version. UST has improved the light and this is by far the brightest version! I've tested them all in the water and they all activate every time. I have this on every vest. I have no doubt that this device will save lives at night if needed. Good price!

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Can't fault it, everything is fine

Small, cheap, efficient

I love this little flash. It's very low and easily fits under the cover of any inflatable lifejacket I've installed. I work for a large fire department with miles of shoreline and we have one on each of our life jackets. I've tested the automatic several times on several and it worked perfectly every time. And that little LED strobe light is very bright. Our policy is to replace the batteries annually, whether or not as part of PFD care and maintenance.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Only available in black

Avoid this unit if it is for life support

Water seeps very slowly under the cap protecting the flash which in turn is mounted directly on the circuit board. Faulty security items do not deserve a second chance. It's reasonable to expect them to work the first time, every time. Also, the first water activation test failed completely (even after 30 minutes), although subsequent tests were successful. Flash duration tested successfully for 48 hours with no reduction in brightness or flash interval. If the LED were mounted higher in theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Some minor things

Very bright flash! Video comparing versions 1.0 and 2.0

Version 2.0 is about 2 times brighter than 1.0. I have two of the first and one of these. Now I will buy 2.0. I will try to shoot a short video together in both side by side. I will say the 1.0 is pretty nimble and lasts longer. When the battery dies on 2.0, where do I fish and hunt before being rescued? Well, I probably won't be writing any more reviews anyway. I will also add some (possibly) useful information. I typically use silicone grease for any electrical connections that are on (or in)

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Everything OK

This flash is very directional. it is only very british in one direction.

Don't let the curved shape of this lantern fool you. Unless it's pointed straight at you like a flashlight, it's not as bright (and visible) as it should be. I used to have a "real" strobe and was concerned that this LED version might not be bright enough. In fact it is very bright and I have no doubt that this is a description of long range visibility. What the description doesn't tell the buyer is that it's only effective if you point it in the direction you want it to be seen. My oldโ€ฆ

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • So-so
