They have a nice bottom that keeps them from slipping and if you're making a salad in them the insulation will keep you cool. The inner shape is ideal for stirring with a whisk, folding with a spatula or large spoon. The rim gives you a place to hold onto. I really like her. For the lids I use the general purpose silicone lids available from Revain which are better than snap on lids as they are vacuum sealed and you can use them on other bowls. Don't worry about the (very) few negative reviews like 'Karen' putting a bowl next to the open flame of her gas stove, melting the outer plastic wrap and then blaming it on poor design - LOL.
