I bought 2 sets of lanterns in the summer. I was surprised by the length of the strings and the fact that thin wires quickly faded into the background. I've decorated a few hanging baskets with wires that have been double folded and wrapped. It was very light. Another set walked around some water features in the garden. Everything went well all summer, and with long daylight and warmth, the light stayed on with the same intensity until morning. I've now transitioned into winter, taking the lanterns from the hanging baskets and hanging them on the lower branches of the maple tree after the leaves have fallen. I also took 2 sets and hung them on a 6 foot pine tree. They look great, but you can see that the cold affects the light. It starts out bright at night (they just show up around 5:30pm) but in the morning the lights are much dimmer than before. We had a warm night (50 s) last week and you could tell that the battery didn't run out that quickly. I've been very happy with everything so far and have a few that I haven't used yet.
