I originally had a plastic whisk/scraper. This worked very well but the plastic column broke when I made thicker batter after 5 years of use. So when I needed another one I figured this metal one would be a great investment. Doesn't scratch the sides of the bowl at all. I might as well use the standard tool that comes with the mixer. Not only do I still have to periodically scrape the sides of the bowl, but as I whip the butter and sugar, the mixture gets pushed up the sides. It is strange. I've tried several times, each time with poor results. If I could return it I would.
