The door bell receivers can be placed wherever there is a electrical outlet. I am hard of hearing, my wife prefers to work with music or TV playing. The regular door bell can be heard if one is in that room, but if one is in a different room it is not heard. The volume in the receivers adjustable. Plus a light in each receiver flashes.The door bell transmitter can be placed almost anywhere--With many homes and buildings having plastic siding or lightweight metal the transmitter can be attached with foamtape.
