Review on LG OLED55G1PUA 55-Inch Gallery Design 4K Smart OLED evo TV (2021) with Built-in Alexa - G1 Series by Brock Chisholm

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The image quality does not justify the high price. 4K 120fps and game mode are just the plus points.

I got this today and to be honest I didn't have enough time because I had to drive out of town but I had a TCL 65 inch Mini LED QLED 2020 and I don't have a big difference in picture quality noticed . Based on this about this LG G1 65 inch OLED which should be much better. It's not a matter of whether it gets bright enough or not, because you can certainly turn the brightness up all the way if you want to. But the overall picture quality in Dolby Vision, HDR and SDR doesn't look much better than in TCL. 4K at 120 fps on my Xbox Series X and in game mode is definitely better and better. I have to keep switching between game mode and vivid mode when going from gaming to watching tv because I do it all through my Xbox. When I received this the back screws were also missing and the back panel was coming loose. Definitely not suitable for a TV over $3,000. I had to tighten all the screws myself. I was supposed to pick it up a few days ago as it was ready for delivery near me, but UPS accidentally put it back on the train, shipped it across the country and told me about it on the phone. However, this is a delivery issue from UPS, not Revain's or the TV's fault. Overall I don't think it's worth the price at all. It's like a $1,700 TV. HDMI 2.1 4K at 120fps and game modes are the only good features. The new webOS sucks. I went through all the settings for about 3 hours and also played Fortnite with different game mode settings. Game mode on my TCL is just as good but not 4K at 120fps. I only paid about $996 for the TCL Mini LED QLED 65 inch. This is my first OLED screen so I wanted it to be the best. If you want the brightest picture settings, use Vivid. The movie is pretty dark. Although the sound is pretty good. That surprised me. Do not use AI Pro sound mode. Use Cinema Sound mode or just Standard mode. You sound better. I also bought a universal VESA footrest for it for $17 and it works really well. If I change my mind about the picture quality I will come back and update this review. But it's just not worth the price. You can also get the cheaper LG C1 2021 for less. Basically it's the same. I don't understand why all the hype about the new EVO panel. Adding an additional $1300 is not justified. I've had time to test it and it seems that the worst picture quality is achieved with Dolby Vision enabled. HDR and everything else looks very good. Dolby Vision is so dark no matter what you do.
