Lack of ionization is killing me

If it was around $20 I'd say better. But the current price is $80, and for that price you should look for quality air purifiers with real comfort. Here's my breakdown: -> IONIZER. In my opinion, ionization is the most important part of air purification and this is where most brands save money. This company saved a lot. There were many red flags in their promotional materials and instructions on how to make negative ions. First, the device is only 12W, which is enough to cover the fan, but what about the ionizer? A decent ionizer uses 150 watts. So I knew if there was an ionizer here, it was pretty small. So I stabbed and stabbed, but I couldn't find a negative ion generator here. I don't see any wires thick enough to run a real ionizer. I don't smell ions. There is absolutely no information on how many negative ions (anions) it creates. Lots of red flags. In my experience with mainstream Chinese brand air purifiers, they add a tiny 1W ionizing lamp to the fan and claim it's a negative ion generator. Aside from taking the entire device apart, I can safely assume this brand has done so. And frankly, something this small is barely enough to clean 1 cubic foot of air, let alone a room. Again, in my opinion, the ion generator is the most important part of air purification as it neutralizes dust and anything that carries dust. (including viruses). If it has an ionizer, it's too small to be of any use. For this reason alone, this device failed me. But I will continue. -> WI-FI normally connected to Smart Life App. Personally, I see no point in a "smart" air purifier. It would be much more useful if it self-adjusts based on air quality, like my other air purifiers in this price range. -> QUALITY ASSEMBLY. It looks good, but the build quality is pretty cheap. are HEPA marked and rated. This filter is unlabeled. This is a proprietary form so you'll have to buy their branded replacement - 2 packs for $35 which is pricey. -> OTHER FEATURES No remote control. No ozone. No air quality sensor. No timer.->COVERAGE This covers a fairly small area, basically a small room. -> CONTROL PANEL The control panel is not very user friendly. You can turn off the night light, but you CANNOT turn off other lights. It has 3 indicators/buttons and they are not intuitive. -> OVERALL DESIGN It is poorly designed by any standards. It sucks air in from the bottom, which is a bad design to begin with as it doesn't encourage circulation. The air is blown from above, so the incoming air cannot pass the outgoing air and get into the filter. Also, air gets in through tiny holes around the base, which is another terrible idea. In no time it will be clogged with dust and dirt. But that issue aside, the intakes aren't big enough for the volume the fan wants to pass through. The engine will burn out. On a similar unit I tested, a poorly designed filter (like this one) would restrict airflow, the engine would overheat and smoke if I wasn't there. She filled the house with smoke and the fire alarm went off. I was lucky to catch it in time before it caught fire. Conclusion: I'm not impressed. You can take a box fan, stick a furnace filter on it and get a better air purifier than this.
