I mainly use this strainer for green tea; put a teaspoon of tea leaves in a strainer, put on my cup, add hot water and brew. It weighs almost nothing, sits on the cup unaided, is not prone to instability and easily holds itself under hot water. Cleaning is almost the same as metal filters, with the added bonus that there are no knurled metal edges to catch on leaves.
