It appears that the leading edges of the flat cam bar have become slightly thicker than the rest of the bar during the stamping process. The rod was tight but did not slip into the cam grooves. I laid the camshaft rod flat and lightly sanded both sides with a file. It was obvious that the edges of the staff had thickened a bit. Only a few strokes of the file on each side were required, and the rod easily entered the grooves of the cam.
