Review on πŸ”Œ Hakko FX-901/P Battery-powered Soldering Iron by Ben Duncan

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It's better than expected

Not replacing the bank block but not yet wire and soldering on mother in law battery powered scooter, board repair, we have full time camping and some work on our golf cart, it's portable has been great. I use rechargeable batteries, they heat well, I didn't do a time test but it worked great when I used it. I used to have a couple of these portable butane soldering irons and they were great for small projects and repairs, but it hurt when you ran out of butane, although you can probably get it at any hardware store or Walmart now. This Hakko is perfect for small/short jobs and/or working remotely on projects where you don't need to carry around a power cord or soldering station. The tip that comes with it is a simple tapered tip, which I would probably use in a few other options, although this one works. First, it's "heavy" with batteries and has an odd weight balance, so it's a little awkward to get used to if you're used to soldering from a Weller station or something.

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Not bad
