Review on Crayola Signature Blend & Shade Soft Core Colored Pencils in Tin: Perfect 50-Count Gift Set! by Heather Shaw

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Limited to 2 layers of color - suitable for adult coloring - not for serious artwork

These pens do not apply well in more than 2 layers. They are probably suitable for adult coloring books, but not for more intensive artistic use. A chalk artist who needs to be able to draw 3 or more layers of color will not be happy with these crayons. Pencils fill the tooth of the paper with only two coats, making it very difficult or almost impossible to apply more than two coats of paint. The colors are beautiful, as is the tin. Although the pencils are a little shorter than other brands. When I found that the pens did not meet my needs, I was hoping to save the tin to use with another set of pens. That's when I discovered that Crayolas are slightly shorter than the standard pencil length. I really wanted to love these pens and am really disappointed.

Pros
  • Soft, highly pigmented core provides vibrant colors with even application on light or dark paper
Cons
  • Not reliable
