A valuable tool for anyone who wants to know how their car works

I had no idea you could buy an OBD scanner this good for less than $500! You get excellent value for money. The fact that you get 26 resets at no extra charge makes this a steal. To do what this one can do, you usually need to use a $1,500+ scan tool. If you want bi-directional or ECU functionality you can pay extra, but most power users and DIY enthusiasts probably won't need a subscription. This is an Android based device and the screen brightness is excellent. Anyone familiar with Android phones will find it very intuitive. I tested it on several vehicles and was very impressed. On an older car, you'll just have access to fewer data points, but this worked well even on Lexus and BMWs from the early '90s. You have to turn on the ignition to see everything that's available. When you connect to Wi-Fi, you'll really get the most of it. After scanning vehicles, you can send this scan tool via Bluetooth or even email (PDF format)! All codes found are listed there. If you're connected to the internet, you can click on individual results and Google will automatically search for you! This is a really useful time-saving feature for common people who don't automatically know what "ECM-P017100 system too weak" might mean due to lack of memory. I love how you can view history so you can quickly return to vehicles you've previously scanned. If you want the autoVIN function to work, it is best to turn on the ignition. I've found that this usually fails if you don't, unless you may have scanned it before. I've been really impressed with this tool so far. And best of all: everything wireless! No fussy OBD cable here. The only downside to this is the fact that you can't use this on much older vehicles that don't have the right type of OBD connector. However, part of the OBD connector is hidden in the bottom of the tool, making the whole thing very portable when not in use. You can also move around while scanning if needed. For example, you can physically look at the throttle position at the top of the engine and get a reading at the same time. You can even view a chart over time and save it to your device. I'm a big fan of this tool. This is fantastic. Most people don't need anything else from a scanner. If you're a mechanic, you might want some extra features and probably the $49.95/month subscription services on offer. For everyone else, you have everything you need right here in this device. I would recommend this any day of the week. It beats my other Innova scanner by a mile and this scanner gets 5 stars too. The difference is that my Innova came with many adapters for old brand plugs that fit older cars. This tool is well worth the price, even if it's more than double the price of another one I've used. Most people don't need one that costs a lot more. This is great value for those who are serious about working on cars or fixing their own problems before heading to the dealership or mechanic for help.
