These are nice, comfortable perches that are good for birds and their feet. Comfortable feet are important for birds! These perches put much less pressure on the feet when the birds are standing on them and this prevents blisters from forming. My rescued cockatoo Goffin had calluses on his feet from home before he was rescued. Soft rope perches are a great solution to healing those legs and preventing them from repeating, along with a variety of sizes and shapes of perches of course. Pull them out and untangle the cord. Also, my cockatoo can unscrew them no matter how hard I twist them and then he breaks the plastic pins inside. For now we've wrapped the ends in tape so he can't reach them because tape is hard to chew due to the webbing/rope it contains. As long as it works My kennel (as seen in the picture loves perches very much. But as you can see he also likes to chew on them. So I only allow birds to use perches on the outside of their cages so I always check when they use them, for fear their legs or beak will get stuck in the ropes they are chewing on.! Rope bars are well made. Now the plastic screw holders are slightly different have sturdier beaks these tips could easily break. I don't know if metal would be better , but if they were metal they would have to be the right kind with screw caps my cockatoo actually broke one of them outside his cage to play with him mount them in all sorts of configurations for birds to play and climb i will continue to buy toys of all shapes and sizes and make lots of fun toys and perches for my four birds!
