Looking for the best value for money I have bought several different cable lug kits and I think this series is the one. Others don't offer as many different sizes. Don't worry about colors, size matters. I think I've bought 3 of these kits to date and the manual crimping tool hasn't worn out yet (although I've oiled them a few times). I work on factory automation equipment and we are constantly making changes to wiring and installation equipment. Ferrules are actually required in most parts of Europe to avoid accidental wiring. They're not required in the US, but many companies still require them because it's just more reliable. The tips are small so they may be damaged if you try. So don't expect them to be indestructible, but they'll get the job done if you don't put a lot of force on the wires (which you shouldn't be doing anyway). and hex as it depends on the end use. A hex crimp tool will hold better, but a square crimp tool is better for wire/screw terminals that are top/bottom crimped. which is probably the more common use case. It's good to have both crimpers available. Ultimately, this is a really good deal and you should snag a box or two!
