Review on Adjustable Heavy-Duty Universal Transom Saver by Extreme Max - Model 3001.1068 by Sergey Chodavarapu

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great price, poor fit of components.

Love the idea of this mount, the angled design and half twist setup is perfect for my Shoreland'r scooter which has the crossbar a decent distance under the boat, 52 inches from the motor trailer position to the crossbar. Pros: *Adjustable to a variety of lengths.*3 mid-sections are nice thick wall tubing, and 3 end sections (V, reel mount, swivel mount) are one-piece rodboat. *Swivel mount is quick and easy * Impressively low price * Took less than 5 to assemble Minutes Large Negative: There is a large gap between the OD and ID of the counterpart, some of which are almost 1/8 inch on each side. Inner part. When I extended it to the required 52" length, there was at least 6" of end-to-end play for the entire assembly, which worries me as it doesn't stabilize the motor very well. I'll most likely see if I can fill in the gaps with something, JB welding or epoxy, maybe to make the build more rigid? Or just weld all the joints yourself and never worry about it again. One final note: some rust has already formed where the stranded wire is welded to the round bar. While around the welds are usually one of the first places to corrode, seeing it straight out of the box was still a bit disappointing.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
