Review on Ultra Palmolive® Clear® Concentrated Liquid by Steven Kile

Revainrating 1 out of 5

"Clean and Clean? " BS suitable for household goods

I usually use Free & Clear 7th generation dishwashing liquid; This is the first brand I saw in stores many years ago and was the only one that offered an unscented colorless laundry detergent. But recently her soap sold out. Then I saw this Palmolive Free & Clear soap and was glad to know that the more popular brand was following suit and offering the same as the 7th generation. The price was also reduced at that time. I always use an unscented detergent to clean soft plastic food containers and utensils because plastic absorbs too easily and then cross-contaminates aromas and flavors. Aside from the 7th gen, I also use Dawn's "regular" cleaner when I need something really strong to remove grease and get that "squeaky clean" feel on the aforementioned plastic. If I have to use Dawn, I still soak the plastic without it afterward, as since Dawn is flavored it ruins it with taste and smell and requires extra thorough washing/rinsing to remove it, more than just rinsing. After buying it for our family and using it for some time, I kept wondering why I get a soapy taste when eating from the containers I usually prefer. I thought maybe it was because the containers were washed with Dawn but not soaked enough and then rinsed. It may be imperceptible to most people, but I am very sensitive to its presence. I didn't understand why I was trying scented soap until I sniffed the neck of the bottle and realized that Palmolive Free & Clear soap actually added fragrance and that was why all my groceries were still spoiled. It really annoys me that Palmolive has added this fragrance while also calling themselves "Clean" and claiming "No Unnecessary Ingredients" and "No Strong Fragrances" implying that other types of dishwashing detergents are " use "heavy" fragrances that they are not. The aroma is absolutely noticeable in it and just as strong as any dishwashing detergent that doesn't claim to be "clean" or "transparent".

Pros
  • Dishwashing liquid
Cons
  • Requires outlet
