Great Idea / Bad Execution; Cross Threaded Bolts for Loading

TLDR: Assembled, installed, shook, rumbled and rolled into two damaged bolts. Stay away from this one/my returned one. I almost never write reviews, but I'm writing these to save people a headache like the one I've just had. On my 2019 JL Unlimited Rubicon I wanted to use this mount and a cheap blank. License plate to display my trail tabs instead of placing them on the jeep's body. This mount is a great idea, but extremely poorly executed in one important area. The build quality of the mount is very good, with good powder coating. All the nuts and fittings are also top notch for the price. Essentially, this bracket swings from the part that holds the license plate to the bracket. The part where it falls on the face is the way it attaches to the jeep's bearing mount. namely removing the top two nuts and replacing them with so-called "extensions" which are theoretically artificial nuts. In practice, the extensions replacing the top two nuts cannot be tightened enough to hold the bar attached to the top two mounting studs without damaging the extensions. The spare wheel is held in place by the only remaining nut on the underside. So if you take the extensions and twist them out as far as you can (80 ft-lbs per Jeep's torque instructions on the spare wheel carrier) you still have a wobbly spare tire and plate bracket hitting each other when the tire is moved over the spare tire studs . It can be the road surface, tailgate closing, going over bumps, etc. etc. After putting it on the jeep one day and dealing with the "wobble" of the spare tire and bracket, I tried to get it off the jeep remove. I got two damaged bobby pins for my troubles which I salvaged. In short, save yourself the hassle and hassle of having to kick the extensions off the back of your Jeep after realizing that only one nut now keeps the spare. The other two are for decoration only. I'm skipping other options on Amazon and looking at a US made license mount that uses factory mounting nuts and sits primarily behind the spare tire. Rating: 0.5 out of 5; What good is a well-made license plate holder if it cannot be properly attached to the car?
