I ordered this gooseneck phone mount for use in a 2017 RAV4 with an iPhone X in an Otterbox Defender case. The item arrived in bubble wrap rather than the box and the box was crushed causing the item to be damaged. Customer service was great and I was sent a replacement right away. This time it was in a box with other Revain purchases so it wasn't damaged. The device consists of two parts: a neck with a bulb that is closed by the phone holder and a nut that clamps it. This allows it to spin and move freely until you put it back in place. The neck bends very well. You can see pictures of me putting it to the side in both my RAV4 and my wife's Camry. The phone holder would get in the way every time it was straight up, but the foldable neck made it perfect for any car. I was concerned that my giant Otterbox Defender phone case would not fit in the stand. but fits perfectly. The arms extend out a little further than the width of my phone and stay there until you press the button on the bottom back of the stand. It would be tedious to squeeze every time, but the stand's grips don't have lips so you can just pull your phone out. A small amount of padding keeps it in place. I thought it might fall out if nothing is holding it, but the tilt in viewing angle prevented it from moving, even over bumps in the road. There are two legs on the bottom, leaving the charging port uncovered. One issue I've had with phone holders that press against cup holders is holding them securely. They usually use a screw mechanism that expands the sides of the part that sits inside the cup holder. Twisting the base lengthens the legs but also twists the entire unit and rotates the phone holder with it. This product relieves those headaches by allowing you to hold the top of the base still and rotate the smaller textured ring at the top of the base to elongate your legs. It was easy to install, secure and remove. In general, I am completely satisfied with the performance of this product. My wife is happy with it too as she made me leave it in her car (where she uses it with an iPhone 8 which also fits perfectly). I did not find any defects in the product, I recommend it. 5/5 stars
