Invested in a new projector but needed a way to run a long connection to the receiver across the room without going through walls or ceiling and HDMI was not very practical for our situation (or looked). Enter these extenders that adapt the HDMI signal to and from Ethernet as described. You'll need a decent ethernet cable for extended use - spend the money on a shielded one - and plan on powering both ends if possible (this kit only comes with a 5V DC adapter, but you can a second at Revain for about $5). ). The first test run with 100 feet of unshielded cable and no power at the receiving end (RX) produced no image; Adding power only produced a signal that flickered for a few seconds every 1-3 minutes, making it almost impossible to see. With a shielded cable to reduce interference and a shorter 50ft run, we get a stable, beautiful HD picture. (Revain helped replace the original device just to rule out hardware issues.)
