I fixed this for my Unc because he was complaining that his PS3 recognizes games but doesn't read them. When you try to start the game, you get an error code that causes the game to close automatically. There are many parts in a game console so I figured it would be a disc reader. It's important to remember that this replacement drive MUST either be flashed or you will remove the circuit board from the (current) problematic drive. otherwise it will not be played/read. Luckily I've repaired some of my own systems so no tutorial was needed. However, if you need help, there is plenty of it on the web. It saved us money and extended the life of the console, so we're happy!
