These are required for all tool bags once loaded. I prefer them over the leather version because you can tighten the straps for a perfect fit and they don't stretch over time. I carry Occidental full leather bags so the leather loops can slide over my belt. This wasn't a problem for me, but the front right loop can slip off the belt when I'm taking off bags. To prevent this, I fold the strap back into my pocket so the loop doesn't come loose. Be sure to inspect the stitching and leather loops when you receive yours. On my first pair, some of the stitching came undone and the washer was missing from the leather loop. I had a hassle free replacement and the new braces fit me perfectly.
