Almost returned for a refund

Just before I was about to go to bed I found my UV-B5 is red and overheating when my UV-B5 (VOX set to 1, TOT set to 1 minute) was on the charger and a 100% disabled Android phone was charging with a BTECH cable connecting them. I unplugged the BTECH cable (fully plugged in on both ends) from the Android phone jack and there was no sound. According to the UV-B5 manual, how does the least sensitive VOX setting affect silence? I thought VOX false alarms were only an issue with Apple devices, but that's not the case. Somehow some kind of signal/RF got through the BTECH cable into the mic jack on my UV-B5, what does that mean? Short circuit, poor shielding/weakening.? After disassembling the UV-B5 to cool it down and putting everything back where it was this morning when the VOX was falsely triggered long enough to overheat (except turning the UV-B5 off today as I can't intentionally allow false transmissions, much less melt my radio), I took this photo. ETA: I canceled the return because I put the headphones into the phone while charging, held my multimeter with the black probe to my skin and the red probe to the screen of the headphones and got a cyclic positive/negative voltage. When I unplugged the charger, the voltage dropped to zero. I'm guessing because the Samsung ETA-U90JWS wall mount is a switching power supply and the phone will pass the voltage all the way through. From what I could see, VOX stopped working as long as the phone was only charged from pure DC sources such as a USB power bank and cigarette lighter/USB adapter. It was recommended that a ferrite bead clamp be fitted to the BTECH cable to eliminate RFI, but I'm not sure what clamp diameter to order or if it will even help with voltage switching. Maybe Baofeng should put this in the next version of the cable and send all previous customers the ferrite that should have been in their original version?
