I bought the device in May 2015. My "problem" is described by another user (see below), he has the same problem. I've used it well without their now mandatory "cloud" service. As of April 1, 2016, every time I go to enter data: [quote} I am prompted to sign in to start syncing and I have to click cancel. I have tens of thousands of scanned receipts for business and personal use. Neat decided to abandon desktop software and force all users to subscribe to their cloud service. If you are a new user this is not a problem - you will just find another scanner/software solution. If you're an existing user who's spent hundreds of hours scanning their software (and shredding old receipts), you're pretty screwed. I don't want all my personal and confidential receipts to be uploaded to the cloud. I use my NeatReceipts software offline very often, which is no longer an option. I don't trust "sync" NeatReceipts. I prefer to back up .nwdb files locally. I've had to reinstall Neat and restore databases and never had a problem with it. Accurate support is almost non-existent. This is only money extortion and should not be legal, especially for existing users. Careful management should look closely at what it has done and correct that mistake. It's a shame that Neat can't even admit that they're just trying to scam existing, loyal customers. Instead, they say the new cloud service "enables streamlined operations across platforms." Wonderful. I don't need optimization for all platforms. Luckily I have a backup of the Neat 5.7 software and will continue to use the desktop software.
