This is a great product but there are a few things the buyer needs to know: 1. While it does an excellent job of monitoring your meat temp and grill/smoker temp, its range to the receiver isn't even close to what the display says. I have a pipe on my desk 30 feet from the front door and NO walls in between. The door is made of wood, not metal. My smoker is 25 feet from the front door so we're talking 55 feet with a wooden door in between. The receiver loses signal at this distance.2. Smoking takes a long time. A pork leg for grilling can last 6-8-10 hours, during this time the weather can change and this device is not waterproof. As far as I can tell, it's not even waterproof. I got the butt on at 10am today under a clear blue sky and now after 5 hours, the butt isn't even close to done I had to get the transmitter out and bring it in because it started raining (there's no room on the covers). a typical grill or smokehouse so it can be set up and covered). ALL electronics intended for outdoor use should at least be waterproof. Aside from those two elements, the device is great. It does exactly what it's supposed to do.
