While rebuilding my battery pack I broke one of the three thermistors plugged in under the battery pack (used to control battery heating and send signals to the fans to cool the battery if necessary). I had a "red triangle of death" on my dashboard without replacement. Soldered this thermistor to the case and haven't had any problems since (18 months and thousands of miles have passed). If you're reading this for your Prius, you're right in the middle of the project and know it's working. You may need to find a way to attach the thermistor to the bottom of one of the battery modules, but that's no big deal.
