Bought for my arthritic hands. Some days the pain is unbearable. When they hurt that bad, I take out some of my Deep Relief YL essential oil blend, rub it into my knuckles, put on moisturizing cotton gloves and put them on. That's the best feeling. This has 3 settings; Low Medium High. Other purchases commented that there is no cover for it and you can get burned. You are right. These are basically heating pads, folded and sealed on 3 sides, but they don't have a coating to protect your hands. You definitely need to put something on your hands when using them. I bought medical and moisturizing cotton gloves for hands. You can just wrap your hands in a cotton towel if you like. I still give it 5 stars because it does what I want and I'm careful with my hands. Do not let small children play with it, they can definitely get burned. These are not toys for children.
