Worked on Traverse 2015. with programmer ODB2

I puzzled over several days, researched and watched a video on how to do it. Finally I dared and started to work. I wanted to share this, maybe it will help you. ** GM only wanted $75 for the remote and $120 for the programming. Local locksmith $125 for both **First: I need a programmer for my car (Traverse 2015), newer GM cars don't have the ability to program the remotes from the info panel. I took a chance and bought a Dorman 99161 with a key. Keychain ($50). Connect it to the ODB2 port and follow the instructions. It probably took longer to read the instructions than to execute them. Then I bought this key and fob and programmed it with the ODB2 programmer above. Again easy and fast. (Note: you have to program all remotes at the same time, it's still easy to press and hold lock and unlock until you hear a beep, 5 seconds?). Interestingly, I went to the Lowes DIY department to have the key in this pruning kit. The gentleman cut out the key and said he couldn't charge me because I brought the form. So free to cut the key! (I felt a little guilty so they cut me another house key while I was there even though I didn't really need it.) Programming the key was also very easy: Original key: turn to the on position (do not turn) , count to 5. Turn the key back to the off position - count to 5 New key (YES, it started) turned the car off. Made $70 and I got 2 remotes and another key (and another house key lol)

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Not everything is as good as it is written
