HDMI is the only port that supports a native resolution of 4k@60FPS. This causes some confusion for users who are unaware of the different types of input and output data. I probably didn't have to return mine because I forgot to check if my GPU has HDMI 2 - it doesn't. Every part of your system must conform to the standards in order to use it properly. Your GPU/Output must support HDMI 2 or higher. Your GPU itself must support 4K@60 resolution (depending on your Intel graphics). You will need a "high speed" HDMI cable, which is the case in most cases, but be sure to try a different one if something doesn't work. If you have a DisplayPort that supports 4k@60, you might be able to adapt it to HDMI 2 as a last resort, but then you're still subject to the limitations of HDMI 2. One more technical note: I've had no luck with an Nvidia system. Optimus. Most non-Mac laptops that have both an integrated GPU and a discrete GPU use Optimus on Windows. The laptop I used (Razer Blade) had an HDMI 2.0 port, but it didn't work because the Intel GPU only outputs HDMI 1.4. Your mileage may vary - even if the HDMI port is connected directly to the Blade GPU, it still apparently has to go through the iGPU. Don't buy if you want DisplayPort or DVI with native resolution and FPS. Good clear monitor for 1080p consoles or PC/Mac with 4k@60fps support via HDMI 2. Poor speakers too. The product has no technical defects, but the description and marketing + actual application can be confusing.
