IKEA edge upgrade bad threading

I bought these to trim the edge of my IKEA dresser. They're cute and the color matches, but the threads on the handles/screws aren't very good. I started my career assembling and disassembling computers - I have a lot of experience with screws and a good sense of when something needs to be tightened properly. I can't manually tighten most of them enough to keep them from turning in place (which is driving me nuts and shouldn't be happening). I'll try it with a drill press, maybe with my husband's help. UPDATE - Went to a hardware store and fixed an issue with some washers, frustrating but happy with the result.
