It works fine but you need stable 12 volts.

I bought this product to replace a set of light bulbs on a small trailer. Both of my tractors have separate turn signal/brake lights and both have tail light converters. However, only one of them will make the trailer light work. So I assumed the problem was the available current and figured that LEDs might solve it since LEDs typically draw less current. I ordered this set and the carrier shipped it very quickly. Installed them on the trailer which was very easy apart from my decision to cut and solder the wires instead of using their splicing clips and neuroses to make sure the wires were "just right". The only complaint is that the ground wire could have been longer, but my trailer folds so a longer wire is needed. The light wires themselves were much longer than needed on my small 8ft trailer. I installed the headlights, connected the trailer to the tractor and the headlights didn't work. This was odd, as LEDs are said to use LESS power than the original incandescent bulbs. I contacted the seller for advice but they didn't offer anything other than checking my wiring. So I made my own diagnosis. The problem was tension. It turned out that my dead tail light converter had a voltage drop of just over 1 volt. 12.2 volts on the battery corresponds to 11.1 volts at the output of the converter, which is clearly not enough to drive the LEDs. LEDs draw very little current, but still require around 12 volts. I ended up giving up my converter in favor of a Tekonsha 119130 taillight converter that only loses a few millivolts. I was afraid that I would have to buy a more expensive powered converter, but the Tekonsha device helped. Now these LEDs work very well. Nice and bright, with a very quick response. I haven't tested them for waterproofness yet and will most likely never submerge them in water. But for me they are (now) a win. I didn't like replacing the tail light converter but it was a voltage vamp so can't fault the lights.
