Review on Sena SMH10D-10: Dual Motorcycle Bluetooth Headset/Intercom for Unprecedented Connectivity by Deejay Devarashetty

We are relatively new to the motorcycling world - only 2 years old. I have studied countless reviews of countless headsets and based on my findings I have decided on the Sena smh10D-10. They arrived quickly! They were beautifully packaged! Installing them was a nightmare. Nowhere in my research have I seen that they cannot be mounted on half helmets with the included headset mount. In fact, the box shows their images installed on helmet types EXCEPT for half helmets. I didn't read that anywhere and it would have helped me make my purchasing decision. We have or of course our own half helmets. Well I'll correct them - they came with a sticker to use if the headset needs to be attached to the outside of the helmet. Pooh! Who needs a headset on a helmet? It will look garish and the heat from the sun and weather can affect how well it holds up. I watched videos, read articles and even called Sena. The Sena rep had to put my job on hold only to find out that the headsets we bought didn't fit half helmets. Nothing helped me to understand why this important information that the half helmet mounts are not designed for this headset is not displayed. Finally, after many frustrating hours of reading etc., I decided to mount them on top of the chin strap - the V-shaped part where it attaches to the helmet. Thus, the headset is not attached to the helmet, but to the chin strap. Wiring is well routed - the speakers fit nicely into the earpiece sections. The headset sits at an angle - not straight, but slightly tilted, but we try our best and in this case they work well. The good news is that the headphones work!
