I dropped my iPad on the tile floor while on vacation; This created a crack from the bottom left corner that quickly grew to the point where small pieces of glass were protruding from the surface. I figured since I play the piano for a living it might be better not to risk my livelihood just playing word chums. So I resorted to my phone for a while while exploring repair or replacement options. The cost of each of them was prohibitive, so I chose Revain, the land of opportunity and spare parts. I found one that I would like to try. It arrived quickly and in good condition. The product itself was ok, but several complicating factors meant it didn't work for me. First, the lack of instructions, not even a link to a specific YouTube, was disappointing as there was no way of knowing if a video would work to replace my specific product. Or small details like how far the glue went. This missing manual was pointed out in the product description. That's how I found out about it on YouTube. I found some videos that helped and I was able to successfully turn off the broken screen and remove the connectors with no problem. Very comforting. My problems came later. The glue was mediocre; A video recommended additional 2mm tape for this. I wish I had some. I just aligned everything, installed new plugs and checked the display for function and buttons - everything is fine. I then aligned it so that I could use glue and lined up the bottom two corners perfectly; then I got to the top right corner and smoothed out the corner. It was slightly off, so I squeezed it a little and.krrraakkkk. Sigh. I mean it was such a light squeeze, how could it stand up to normal use? Then, probably out of sympathy, another corner cracked. Come on, it still worked and the cracks weren't as nasty as the ones I replaced. But the glue wasn't strong enough to hold the surface in place so my husband gave me some clamps to hold it in place until the glue was convinced that he should be liable. The clip must have pinched the cable, so the home button doesn't work now. So the only way I can access the iPad is to turn it off. and then turn it back on, which will ask for a password screen. Then I can use it and get to the right places by swiping up. It's okay because fingerprint ID still didn't work with the new button, as mentioned. No wonder; If you want you can also keep your old button if you want to use the fingerprint part as indicated in the video. So the bottom line is Apple's repair costs are still only about 5%. So it was no more expensive than going to the cinema, buying popcorn and having a drink. Luckily my son gave me his spare iPad so it wasn't necessary. It was great evening entertainment, I learned how the iPad works and only got stabbed a couple of times with a piece of broken glass. i could do it again I also have a nice little screwdriver and some spare picks in case I lose mine.
