Just what you need to strain loose tea after brewing in a teapot. I usually use it on a mug because I like a good cup of tea. Some have mentioned that it won't fit wider teacups, which wouldn't be a problem. It's meant to be used to strain tea brewed in a teapot, so just hold it under the teapot spout over the cup like I do with the long-handled tea infuser. It's not meant to sit on a cup and brew tea, it's designed to strain tea from a teapot.
