Not ideal for use in a manual plunge router

I've been using (imported tool store in every big city) brand name vertical cut spiral bits ($15 for 3 sizes) for a while. I mainly use them for diving and slotting. I decided to upgrade and bought one of these. Unfortunately, my experience with this slotted drill was far from ideal. I was constantly getting kickbacks from my router. Obviously these bits are VERY sharp. However, the end shape of this end mill is just a bad idea for multi-flute use when used in a milling machine. If you try to run this knife along the edge of the panel, it will constantly "catch" the workpiece. While I'm a fan of SpeTool routers, I'd best leave this router to the CNC guys. Attempting to use this router bit in a hand router is just a recipe for a broken workpiece or worse. To be clear, I bought a 1/2" screw end mill and used it in one of my larger manual dip mills. . SpeTool still makes great tools, but if you want to use them in a manual dip mill, take a look on their offers.

Pros
  • Straight, spiral and trimming bits
Cons
  • No automatic
