The hour and minute hands glow in the dark so you can see them at night. Set the time with one dial and set the alarm with another. Turning the alarm on and off is triggered by pulling up and down on the pommel part, rather than pushing and pulling the alarm disc (this was not apparent from looking at the back of the watch). aggravating! The clock uses 1 AA battery, and there is a piece of tape inside the battery compartment to help you remove the battery. I'd pay more for a watch that's all metal and a bit smaller, but it's good value for what you get.
