Due to the measurements I ordered the average size at first but it turned out to be too big. Then I got a small one and it was perfect. I ended up trying many harnesses before I found one I really like and I like this one. It fits well, doesn't chafe under the armpits, is comfortable to wear 24/7, and isn't stiff or heavy. We live in Florida so being light but not skinny is important. That fits the bill and the reflective outline really comes into its own. It's also nice to have an extra handle on top to pull it away from anything. I wish it was available in more colors. I have two dogs. So when I can find a harness that fits everyone, I usually want to buy a pair. The extra leash that comes with the kit is a nice feature too. A little short for my taste, but very pretty.
