In addition to brushing an elderly papillon's teeth, we used chlorhexidine rinses. Although she still has dental issues (a few more are pulled out each year) this seems to have slowed down her dental issues and really helps keep her breath fresh. We used another brand before that had a different flavor that she liked better. It's her who doesn't really like the orange flavor but lets me use it anyway - she's so pretty! I really like the dispenser on this product as the dog doesn't have to look at the bottle when using it (which can startle the dog) and it's easy to do a quick flush to get a straight little spray. She loves combing the part much more. just wish it had a friendlier flavor, maybe peanut butter or bacon? Please be sure to read the directions and apply only a small amount to your gums on each side of your mouth. Your dog doesn't need to ingest too much of this stuff, and you shouldn't put it in your water bowls! It's just something we use once a day (every night) after brushing our teeth. Would buy again and recommend for any dog or cat with bad teeth! (We have a cat but he won't let me flush him, he refuses lol).
