These brake cables are of very high quality and incredibly cheap. I verified that it was zinc plated carbon steel using an XRF analyzer which found zinc and iron but no chromium. The ends are perfectly welded to prevent fraying. The package was well packed and arrived on time. I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 because the description says the material of the cable is stainless steel which is not the case. The original cables on the two bikes I repaired were also zinc plated carbon steel and had only light tarnishing on a 28 year old bike.
