Beautiful hinges used on the ottoman to hold books in the kids room

four of us liked a room for the little ones so we bought it to store all his books. As soon as we brought it home and loaded it with books, we found that the lid is really heavy and difficult to close. I knew that as soon as our child got up and started walking, they would bruise their fingers. I had soft close hinges for cabinets I wanted to add but they weren't enough so I looked for shock absorbers and found them. I'm glad I did because they work great! It's not an original design for them, but they still did what we wanted. The only minor complaint is that they work well to the last inch or so and then close quickly. I have not removed any stars as they were not intended to be used as an ottoman to crush children's fingers so I don't think this is a fault of the product. I took it a step further and still used the soft close hinges as it helped take the last little force when closing. Another plus is that the top now stays open much easier. It used to not open very well, but now there are no problems. A few photos included. Adjusted the throttle positions slightly to work better. In fact, if you install it one way, the shock will "push" and "pull" the other way. So I flipped them a few times to find the best combination, which turned out to be a push and a pull. Let me know if you have any questions as it was a bit unusual but we are very happy with the results. !
