Review on UFO Home 300 TC 100% Yarn-Dyed Cotton Flannel Plaid Duvet Cover Set - King Size (Carlson) by Amy Fenner

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Sturdy construction, great pattern, horrible button design

This duvet cover is really attractive. The fabric is dense and pleasant to the touch, and the stitching is of a very high quality, so the cover will last for many years. It is soft and warm at the same time, it is comfortable to sleep under. I would give it five stars for its glaring lack of button design. The lid opens and closes with buttons at one end. This particular manufacturer foolishly put on buttons that are just a tad larger than the buttonholes. Also, the strip of fabric/pocket with the buttonholes is inexplicably sewn to the main fabric on all four sides. It's literally impossible to put your fingers through the hole to get the button in or out. The hole is so close to the button when inserting or removing that you have to pull the fabric around the button with a lot of force. Whoever sells these things has poor quality control at the factory. The discrepancy between buttons and hole sizes is just stupid. The fact that the button placket is sewn on in such a way that you can't access the back of the buttonhole looks really stupid. There's no need for extra stitching, but their presence guarantees a frustrating buttoning experience. It took me five minutes and a lot of frustration to close this thing. This is real work. It's enough trouble that I'm not sure I'll keep the cover. Washing the cover means 5 minutes of unzipping and another 5 minutes of frustration EVERY TIME I wash it. Pooh.

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
