I've been running at 4GB since I built this machine about 5 years ago and decided that I had to breathe new life in it. After some thought, I decided to try these Patriot modules. I put two flash drives in my old PC and it booted up. Windows immediately recognized that the system had 12GB of RAM (an old 4GB Corsair module + two new Patriot modules running in dual-channel mode). DISCLAIMER: Mixing brands like me is not recommended, but my BIOSTAR A870 motherboard seems to have made adjustments to use different DIMM specs with no BIOS setup on my part and no blue screen of death, so I'm lucky. as advertised (see photo). I will update if I encounter any problems.
