This makes a great cooking pad or placemat on the counter but whatever you do, don't do it. Do not put in the oven although the description says it can be used. We used it in our oven and within minutes our fire alarm went off, not from smoke but from some toxic fumes. We immediately removed the mat from the pan, washed it (although there were no visible burn marks) and now it sits on the table, never to be used in baking again. Don't get me wrong it's a great rug, nice and big, but don't use it in the oven unless you want the fire brigade to visit.
