Clever concept but risk of fire in use. These mats have no ventilation, so you essentially place a metal plate over the grill. This redirects the heat and flame back under your burners. In my case I had a blazing fire started within minutes as it ignited the leftover food under alit's flames! I just cleaned my grill maybe 10 dinners ago so it wasn't a problem to start with. If they were vented it would probably work. Note the burn marks on the mat (fig.).
