I had to use this small accessory because my TV has no audio output and it is not compatible with all soundbars/speakers. all about my PlayStation 4, but that meant I couldn't use the soundbar with other devices or just watch TV normally. This little converter saved the day. The idea is that you get an HDMI hub/switch and connect all your devices to it. This box outputs HDMI. You plug that HDMI into that splitter and you get HDMI video and optical audio. HDMI video goes to the TV and optical audio goes to the stereo or soundbar. Yes, it sounds complicated and you will need a lot of device cables. It's not perfect, but that's the purpose of this device, and it does a good job. Next time I will buy a TV with an audio output.
