The sound is bad, but understandable when not moving, but really incomprehensible when speeding or driving. FYI, there is no owner here, so there is no noisy motor either. I ordered a speaker upgrade to see if the sound improves. Really bad business model - just turn on good speakers beforehand or give a discount if you buy an upgrade and wasting time reinstalling should also be a nuisance to consider when discounting. Upgrade - Upgraded speakers are a must if you want to decode something while driving - it just doesn't make sense, stock speakers are useless. For a $300+ device, it seems to come with language. RadioShack quality speakers for $2. With the update the sound is fine. Nothing beats good headphones, but at least you can have a conversation and understand speech.
