This is a thinner fabric and less calf fit than before. Fabric Thickness: I used to prefer these over many other crew socks, but the fabric is now 25% thinner than before (I used a caliper). Measure the thickness of the crown tissue). I checked because after 10 years my old worn out NIKE Crew socks still felt way heavier than these new ones I just got. They don't keep me warm like the old ones. I've now found the Fruit-Of-The-Loom workwear size 6-12 to be my new best choice for crew socks. They are as strong as old NIKE sneakers. My local Walmart sells them in black, gray, and white for a reasonable price. Shoe Fit/Size: I've found that the crew socks I've recently purchased from Costco and Sam's Club don't flare up around my calf as much as their old ones. I measured and the max stretch (circumference) is now 1.5 inches less than the old ones. This left me with blood restriction. I'm 6'1", wear size 12 shoes and weigh 190 pounds which I consider normal. (OK, not the ideal weight) but it confuses me that they reduced the fit of these socks and still consider them a size 12. They don't suit me, but they did. My wife donated them to Goodwill. These NIKE socks expand to calf size, so if you don't mind that they aren't as thick as regular socks and socks from other brands, you'll probably find them perfect even if your calves are thick are the same size as mine. Nike socks are generally good.
