Worth the Money: Air Filter and Accessories

Installed on a 2010 Scion XD Manual Transmission. Always wanted CAI, don't want to spend money or time on installation. It seems to be 90% of the way. So I won't say there's a significant increase in horsepower (not that I expected to notice 5-7 hp if that's the case). But you definitely notice that the engine sucks in better air. The throttle response is a little better, you can feel more pull in the rev range. I haven't filled up yet so my MPG hasn't reset yet, but my average mileage went up about 1mpg this morning. Everyone should upgrade their filter to this after the first standard filter gets dirty. So I decided to do some math: If gas is $3 a gallon, I used it to get 36 mpg, so I paid 8.3 cents a mile. Now I'm getting 40mpg, so now I'm paying 7.5 cents a mile. That means I pay about a cent less per mile or save $120 a year if I average 12,000 miles. So the filter pays for itself in the first 4 months, but I also get a savings from this filter lasting 50,000 miles before it needs cleaning, so I'm also saving an additional $50 by not buying filters every 10,000 miles. It's also more environmentally friendly because I use less fuel.
