Review on ๐Ÿ”Œ Ginsco Dual USB Charger Socket Power Outlet 4.2A for Car Boat Marine RV Mobile with Wire Fuse DIY Kit - Blue LED by Luis Despain

May have an internal grounding problem.

I installed this product in 2017 with a USB outlet in my car, connecting the hot wire to the hot wire of the 12v console outlet and the ground wire to the ground wire of the 12v console outlet . Happy with it for years. You recently connected a Bluetooth USB receiver to this outlet using an Apple Lightning cable to power an audio source (iPhone). There are all kinds of audio noise that can be eliminated by unplugging the Lightning cable. Strange. Decided to check. Short version: With the car on and the Bluetooth USB plugged into the outlet (with the other end of the Bluetooth plugged into the stereo mini jack that powers the main radio unit), I unplugged the ground wire. The outlet (and Bluetooth USB) should be off, right? NO. The blue LED on the socket remained lit. Bluetooth USB connected to this charger stayed on. And here's the thing - the whole assembly is plastic and it's attached to a plastic bracket on the machine. How the heck did it stay powered up with +12V but no ground? Here's how - the charger was grounded *through the connected Bluetooth USB*. Disconnected the Bluetooth USB and the *outlet* LED went out. Why does this USB jack have a ground wire when it's grounded via a connected USB device? Well, the outlet *should* use this ground wire and *should* not ground any devices plugged into the USB ports. At least that's my opinion on electronics. I don't know if this problem is unique to this product. But in my electrical opinion it is important and I am looking for a replacement. Danger.
