Better than expected!

I'm a very "anal-preserving" person when it comes to my aquariums. I never add items that are not "natural". Only real plants, natural gravel and inert stones. However, my wife and I are HUGE SpongeBob fans, and this was the only article on the series that I let her talk me into writing. Considering that, it's not that bad. Yes, it's unnatural, but it has enough of the Easter Island moai statue look to make it acceptable. I posted his photo above. We had the perfect spot for it, right in front of the heater so it somewhat hides that heater and is on a higher level so it has an elevated position. He has a coloration that makes him look like he's supposed to be underwater. I'm pretty sure it will look even more natural once algae grows. Other reviewers are right. The eye holes and especially the mouth are VERY rough and these sharp edges can cause problems for your fish. I took the time to sand down the inside edges of the mouth and used a file to finish the inside of the eyes. The bottom was much worse, but knowing I'd bury it in the gravel a bit, I wasn't worried about her. The fish seem to be enjoying it, but it's too early to see if they're swimming in and out. That. In my posted photo you can see that my bloodfin tetras swim past him perfectly! I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm really happy I bought the artificial item for my tetra aquarium!
